Earbox Terms of Service
By using Earbox (the "App") you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. The service. The App converts text, documents and web pages you import into speech for personal listening. Speech is generated by a third-party cloud synthesis service; quality and availability depend on the network and that service.
2. Account. Cloud narration requires signing in with Apple. You must be at least 16; under 18 requires a guardian's consent. You are responsible for activity under your account, which is for your personal use only. You may delete your account at any time in Settings › Account; account data is removed as described in the Privacy Policy, and any subscription must be cancelled separately in the App Store.
3. Subscriptions, free allowance and trials.
- Free accounts get a limited amount of cloud narration. When it is used up, a Premium subscription is required to keep listening.
- Premium is an auto-renewing subscription offered weekly or monthly at the price shown in the App Store. Premium has no per-item limit; to prevent abuse we may apply a reasonable cap on extreme usage.
- New subscribers may receive the free trial shown in the App Store. Unless cancelled before the trial ends, the selected period is charged automatically.
- Subscriptions renew automatically within 24 hours before the end of the current period; Apple handles billing. Cancel any time in iOS Settings › Apple ID › Subscriptions; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period and paid periods are not refunded pro rata.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies; we cannot issue them directly.
- We may change prices or plans; changes to existing subscriptions follow App Store rules and are announced in advance.
4. Your content. You own what you import and warrant that you may use it and that it is lawful, non-infringing and free of malicious code. To provide the service you authorize us to transmit the paragraph being read to our synthesis provider. We claim no other rights in your content and do not use it to train models. Generated audio is for your personal listening, not for commercial distribution or impersonation.
5. Acceptable use. No reverse engineering, circumventing the App or subscription mechanics, automated bulk synthesis, unlawful use, harassment, misinformation, infringement of others' rights, or reselling or sharing accounts. We may suspend or terminate violators without refund.
6. Intellectual property. The App's software, interface, marks and copy belong to us or our licensors. You receive a limited, revocable, non-exclusive personal license.
7. Third-party services. Apple (sign-in, payment), Alibaba Cloud Model Studio (speech synthesis) and web pages you import are governed by their own terms. We are not liable for their interruption or changes but will try to provide alternatives.
8. Disclaimer. The App is provided "as is". We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free service, accuracy of synthesized speech, or outcomes arising from the content itself.
9. Limitation of liability. To the extent permitted by law we are not liable for indirect, incidental or punitive damages, and our total liability is limited to the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Statutory consumer rights are unaffected.
10. Termination. You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time; we may terminate for breach. Sections 4, 8 and 9 survive termination.
11. Changes. We may update these Terms and will notify you in the app of material changes; continued use means acceptance.
12. Disputes. Nothing in these Terms limits consumer-protection rights that cannot be waived under the law of the place where you live. Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your use of the App.
